The Fashion Show
Since this week has been about researching for our upcoming Erasmus, (for which we can start applying now), I have decided to choose an interview centered around this experience, in order to get more insight. I got it from the following website: https://uclhistory.wordpress.com/2016/06/27/an-interview-with-an-erasmus-student/ and I am going to report it below:
In this interview, Thomas Garcin, from Paris, is asked various questions regarding his experience at UCL, or University College London. He said he chose to study history at UCL in part by chance and in part because he wanted to experience the essence of London which he had been told about.
Secondly, he was asked about what he had enjoyed the most about studying at UCL History. He stated that he had looked forward to discovering the British methods and viewpoints on history. He also gushed about how enriching it was to see a different perspective on the British Empire and Western political thought, and how the UCL experience was more about discussion and reflection, a method he was unfamiliar with. Lastly, he appreciated the fact that the academic staff were really supportive and offered lots of help.
Next, he shared what it was like to study in London. Apart from the interesting things to see and do, he emphasized the social aspect of university, explaining how great the events organised by the department were, such as cocktail evenings and other activities.
Additionally, Thomas was asked what he considered to be the most important aspects of his experience. To which he answered learning about himself, beside the traditional knowledge acquired through university. This included reconsidering his objectives, his country, and the people who really mattered to him at home. He also held that one of the most important aspects of his experience there was the people he met.
Last but not least, he gave 3 tips for future Erasmus students coming to UCL History. The first one was to consider the money issues in advance, as London is expensive, either through working in London during their stay or working as much as they can during the summer before going abroad. Secondly, he recommended working regularly and not getting absorbed by the social life. Thirdly, he said the best thing to do was to just 'go for it', not letting all the possible issues prevent anyone from going on the adventure, since it was really worth it.

Next, I am going to share some of my favourite clothes that are on trend this year!
- Padded or 'puffer' jackets in colours that pop! They keep you very warm and brighten the mood!
- Fringing or sequins are my next pick! Both are extremely on trend. They are perfect for parties, very original, elegant and eye-catching!
- Workwear is quite on trend this year. I am quite fond of the utility suits, I like how comfortable they look and the fact that they are easy to style and wear, being only one piece.

This week, to improve my English, I have continued to read 1989 by George Orwell. It is taking me quite a lot of time and effort to push through the book, managing to read just 5 or 6 pages a day. I have found it to be a tough read because the narration is very detailed and is slow-paced. Nevertheless, I want to finish it because the vocabulary is quite rich and I know it will get better. Quitting is not an option!
