Week 17: In my view
Trending topics are constantly discussed all over the news, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms. The average member of any social media is bombarded with a plethora of opinions on a daily basis. I usually keep quiet most of the time, choosing to be left out of the discussion.
Nevertheless, today I would like to state my opinion on a trending topic I found on The Today Show's website. It states that a Trulia survey found that now, more married couples have roommates. This is due to the fact that they have to deal with increasing real estate pricing. Data-wise, the rate of married couples living with a roommate has doubled since 1995, both for homeowners and renters. It seems to me that reversing the rise in housing costs is a bit out of our reach. It is a matter of economy that most of us have to combat by adapting ourselves to reality. In my opinion, taking on a roommate is not the worst idea ever.
I feel that financial strain is one of the worst things a couple can go through together. Therefore, if they can ease the tension by bringing another person into their home, with separate spaces and plenty of privacy, I would say that that would not be as much of a problem as money issues are.
Of course, this is not ideal, but Rome was not built in a day. In other words, good things take time. If one cannot keep up with the costs of housing by themselves and they do not want to compromise by moving into a smaller or lower-end home, they have to adapt. I would personally rather take on a roommate than go into debt.
It is not normally accepted to start your married life with a third wheel. However, as everybody knows, with the privileges of the adult world also come responsibilities, and one must know what he/she can truly afford. So, the obvious conclusion is: do what you have to do, but do it with a set intention and do not let anyone change your mind, because only you know what's best.

Last but not least, to improve my English, I had a long chat with my Italian friend, Marco, with whom I communicate mainly in English. We spent about 2 hours on Skype last Saturday afternoon. He has a pretty good C1 level too, and it's very fun to catch up because we're comfortable with one another and we always use the most spectacular, specific vocabulary, which definitely makes for an interesting conversation! I feel like we aim to demonstrate to each other how well we can speak English and communicate effectively even if our mother tongue and accents are totally different!

Moving on, some useful links I found regarding the infinitive and its explanation are the following;- https://www.ef.com/wwen/english-resources/english-grammar/infinitive/
- This is a page that is well put-together, with clear and concise information that comes in very handy if you are confused about the topic.
- The YouTube channel is called English Grammar and this video is "Five Ways to Use Infinitive"
- This link is similar to the first one, but geared more towards the exceptions and usage of the infinitive instead of its formation.
