Week 18: Who We Are

Hey guys! In today's post I'm going to focus on body idioms and inversions.

Since I loved the body idioms that we've discovered in class this week so much, I scoured the web for 5 more expressions.
    • to stand or stick out like a sore thumb: someone or something is being obvious, noticeable or easily recognized as different from the group.
    • to do something in a heartbeat: to do something right away if you have the chance.
    • to catch somebody's eye: to attract someone's attention or be attractive enough to be noticed.
    • to the bone: as completely as possible. In Spanish it would be something like 'hasta los huesos'.
    • have two left feet: to be awkward or clumsy with one's feet.

The marvelous website I found all of these idioms on is https://sharmskee.com/funny-body-parts-idioms-list/. It has fifty body idioms! Plus, all of them are so interesting. I love it!

More web-browsing ahead!
Next, I looked at some websites where inversions are explained. Here is what I found:

Last but not least, this week has been quite exciting for me regarding the 'improve-my-English' aspect. My boyfriend has actually started an Instagram page where he posts his illustrations (cartoons or little comic strips) with witty texts and puns. In fact, to try and reach more people, he suggested that I translate the texts from Spanish into English, so he can post both versions. So, that's what I've been doing! How exciting! I feel honored that he trusts me with the task and that he wants to make me a part of his proyect. In addition, it helps me practice translating texts that I actually enjoy, for once. Managing to maintain the joke or the funny element without translating literally word-for-word has been a challenge but above all, it has been a rewarding experience so far and I hope it will continue that way. He really deserves to succeed!
